The BrightStar Corporation was founded in 2005 when a small team of highly experienced industry professionals joined forces to pursue real estate development opportunities. Principals John Blackburn and James Buckler have assembled a senior management team of seasoned experts in project development, finance, design, construction and marketing.

The BrightStar management team has intimate knowledge of the acquisition, development and sale of residential, commercial, recreational and industrial real estate. Together they enable BrightStar to take projects from concept to full completion, working with a host of specialized consultants and firms that ensure the delivery of high quality real estate developments.

BrightStar is committed to developing projects that will deliver sustainable environmental solutions, utilizing an ever-increasing capacity for providing renewable and energy efficient solutions in all aspects of project development.

Projects are developed using Sustainable Building practices with the goal of reducing the environmental impact of all new developments. BrightStar believes in using the latest technological innovations from the environmental and recycling industries across the development and ongoing use of all their projects.
Gay Company Limited
Lawson Gay and his family have been in the General Contracting construction business in Durham Region since 1888. He is now the 5th generation to work in the company Gay Company Limited. Following his graduation from Wilfred Laurier University in 1995 he returned home to work and grow his family business.

In Oshawa since the early 1900’s the company sold the lands where the GM Centre now resides to the City of Oshawa and relocated to its current location on Highway #2 Courtrice (in a building that was Lawson Gay’s grandfather’s house). There are very few areas in Oshawa, Whitby and especially Clarington that have not seen and felt the imprint of Gay Company Limited’s work.

Lawson Gay has also formed a housing company called HL Gay Family Homes (that has built over 300 tract homes and 20 Custom Homes) and started numerous land development companies that specialize in Commercial Development as well as housing subdivisions.

Lawson was the President of the Durham Construction Association from 2000-2002, was on the construction steering committee for the fundraising for the Cancer Centre at Lakeridge Oshawa, sits on the Friends of UOIT Fundraising Committee.

Lawson is a member of Tarion (ONHWP) in good standing, a member of the Durham Region Home Builders Association in good standing, is a member of the Oshawa/Durham Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Clarington Board.
